Our club committed to encouraging and promoting masters athletics, general fitness and to provide opportunities for training and competition. It is well recognised that physical activity and engagement in a community is beneficial for our mental health, too.
Act Belong Commit is a state-wide initiative encouraging people to take action to improve and protect their mental health and wellbeing.
With this strong alignment of purposes, it makes sense for MAWA to support the Act Belong Commit initiative.
Act Belong Commit Partnerships Coordinator, Rodney Glossop, expressed his excitement for the partnerships with the following statement:
‘As a proud member of Masters Athletics WA (#1901) with over 25 years working in sport and events, I know the impact sport plays in enriching people’s lives and I look forward to supporting MAWA in its pursuit to motivate and inspire people to take action to improve and maintain their mental wellbeing through being active, connecting with the community, and setting individual and team goals and challenges. All fundamental elements of the Act Belong Commit campaign.’
We encourage members to visit the Act Belong Commit website where there is a quiz to test your mental health (https://www.actbelongcommit.org.au/my-mental-health/mental-wellbeing-quiz/)
